Adela grabbed Haydn’s arm to stop him standing up and making a scene. Her own temper was flaring, but she was managing to control it.
“Leave it Haydn,” She seethed, “I can look after myself, I’ll sort it, don’t worry.” Adela made sure not to tell him the boy’s name, for she was sure Haydn would try and even the score himself when she was perfectly capable so getting revenge on her own.

Rising slowly to his feet the Headmaster liked to think he made an imposing figure stood in front of his students. But the truth was, despite not being a small man, those who knew the professor were not intimidated in the slightest, only the first years became silent the moment he stood up.
"Quiet please!" He asked of the room, being very polite about it, yet projecting his voice well. "I’d like to begin the sorting!"
In the past previous headmasters of Hogwarts had not been so involved in the sorting of the students, but Professor Sedgwick liked to be involved.
He steadily made his way down the list of students, smiling and welcoming each one to the school.
"Benitte, Rachella" He called to the room, his eyes scanning the remaining unsorted first years for the girl in question.
He waited patiently, the Sorting Hat in his hand, for the new student to step forward and seat themselves on the stool in front of him.

Rachella heard her name and she quickly put her stuff away. Standing up she went to the stool. Her eyes scanned the room. She sat down and waited for the hat to tell her what house she was in.

The professor smiled pleasantly at the girl who approached him, "Welcome to Hogwarts." He grinned at the young student.
As she sat down he planted the hat carefully but firmly upon her head, making sure it didn’t cover her mouth and nose. "Ooh, wouldn't that be awful!" He mused aloud, "To suffocate a student while they were being sorted!" After a moment he added, "Sorry, I think I said that aloud. I do that sometimes. I do wish that I didn't! It can be quite awkward."
And then the man was quiet, for the Sorting Hat had begun to speak.

The hat sprang into life when it was placed upon the young witch's head.
Ah, interesting history here I see. Yes, yes, very interesting yet how terribly sad. There's a cruel streak in this one though, hmm...
The hat nodded its pointed head. How such a student would prosper if she were placed in a more caring house. But it would not have it, it couldn't possibly place such a girl in Hufflepuff. There was only one house fit for her and that was...
"Slytherin!"

Rachella rolled her eyes at what the Headmaster said. Listening to the Hat she growled at the mention of her past. No, she didn't need students coming up to her and asking her about her past. Most likely, she would Hex them with some of the spells she knew. When the Hat finally claimed her to a house, a smirk appeared on her lips.
Getting off the stool and away from the headmaster she took the seat where she was at before. Taking the book out again. She started to read ignoring everything else.

When the sorting was over the Headmaster, still smiling, returned to his place behind the staff table but did not sit down quite yet; he had his big speech to make.
"Welcome everyone to yet another year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!" He boomed, a slight air of authority coming to his voice now.
"It is my hope that this school will become a flagship of unity in today’s Wizarding world. This hope has been steadily becoming a reality during my time as Headmaster and this year I wish to see the bonds within this school and between the students strengthened.
Whilst I believe that the houses of the school work against my vision, I have once again failed in convincing the Board of Governors too abolish these walls between you students. Therefore I can only ask you to branch out, seek friends outside of your selected house, create relationships with those you may not normally do so." At this point the Headmaster was specifically looking at the Slytherin table.
"Now, I am afraid that I will have to remind you of a few of the school rules.
The main rule which will be enforced once more this year is that Racism of any kind, including blood types, will not be tolerated! And those who choose to break this rule will be punished most severely.
The Forbidden Forest is out of bounds to all students. Creatures dwell within those trees that are beyond your worst nightmares. You do not want to meet them.
Respect is key in the day to day life of this school. Respect your Professors. Respect your fellow students. Respect property that is not your own. Respect yourself.
Now, let the feasting begin!"
And with a wave of his arms the food appeared on the many house tables. Professor Sedgwick nodded to the room and then sat down, an even larger smile upon his face as he was most pleased with his performance.

Adela did not wish to eat anything, she'd had a sandwich on the train and wanted to go and wait somewhere for the Gryffindor boy. She would have her revenge, she'd make him squirm and make him wish he'd never called her any spiteful name at all!
"I'm going to go to the common room," She said to Haydn, "I'll probably see you there later."
Adela drifted slowly out of the hall, hoping to go unnoticed by her fellow students and the Gryffindor boy in particular.

After Adela had left Haydn sat and ate some food, picking out his favourites from the selection that was in front of him.
When he'd finished eating Haydn glanced down the Slytherin table and his eyes were drawn to the first year girl who was sat reading.
He stood up and made his way over to the girl.
"Hello" He said, sitting down next to her.

Rachella stopped read and put a finger on where she stopped at. Looking up she nodded her head. "Hello." There was no real tone or expression to help think if he was wanted or not. She was still looking at him wanting to know what he wanted.
